Formerly known as GreatGuys, RE:GUYS debuted on August 25, 2017, as a seven-member group. In April 2025, the group introduced a new chapter in its career by rebranding as RE:GUYS with its remaining members.
Get to know RE:GUYS’s D.I in this exclusive interview as he opens up about his personality, career, motivations, future interests, and how the group’s rebranding has reshaped its dynamic.
In December, your group officially rebranded as RE:GUYS. What feels different now compared to before the rebranding?
What feels different is that we now have a bit more freedom to make the music we truly want to make.
Are there any activities or roles you haven't tried yet. For example, acting or being an MC that you'd like to explore?
I'm not great at acting, but I do hope to challenge myself with it someday.
You mentioned before that you're interested in fashion. Have there been any styles or brands you've been drawn to recently?
I originally preferred and was very interested in streetwear brands like Supreme, Stüssy, and BAPE, but lately I've been more drawn to the style of brands like Margiela.
If you had to choose an emoji to express yourself, which one would you pick?
I'd choose the 😎 and 😝 emojis! The reason is that they match my image, and they're the emojis I use most often.
During the rebranding process, would you say you've changed and grown as both a person and an artist? If so, in what ways?
Because I'm always studying music, I feel like my range has expanded compared to before, and I think the quality of my work has improved as well.
In the past, you mentioned songwriting as one of your skills. When you compose music, where do your ideas or inspiration usually come from?
I constantly draw inspiration from everyday life. I get inspired by dramas, books, and movies, as well as the emotions and feelings I experience while going about my daily routine.
Do you often receive fan mail from fans? If so, is there a message that has stayed with you the most?
The comment that stays with me most is when people say, "It's cool how you always give your all on stage."
What are you most looking forward to about rebranding as RE:GUYS?
What I'm most excited about is that everything—from our concept to our music—will be created from our own ideas.
Between a busy schedule and intense practice, what helps you stay motivated and energized?
Of course, it's our fans who cheer us on, and our families.
What's your favorite way to spend time or bond with the other members of RE:GUYS?
enjoy having team dinners after practice—sharing delicious food and drinks together.
When preparing for performances, do you have any personal routines, songs, or methods you use to sharpen your rap or vocal skills?
I focus most on vocalization and pronunciation, and I practice them consistently.
In the future, are you interested in expanding your role in RE:GUYS' songwriting or production? Are there any genres or themes you'd like to explore?
Rather than limiting myself to one genre, I'd like to take on various genres and show many different sides of myself.
Keep up with RE:GUYS on all platforms, Instagram, X(Twitter), TikTok, and YouTube.
